Hightlights from the 8th of March Show
I was emailed a power point presentation a couple of weeks ago with a compilation of Brazilian radio programmes from the 40's to the 70's; this show I played a small excerpt of that presentation, but if you would like to hear or see the full version, here is the link: Radio dos anos 70
On your left is a picture of Vicente Leporace, broadcaster of the show O Trabuco; the small segment of him that I played on the show is about the fear radio had of TV... I extended his comment by refering to machiavellic philosophy, which says that in order for a person to mantain his/her power, he/she needs to promulgate fear; hence the origin of the adjective in Portuguese or Spanish, that if you are a maquavelico (a) person, you are evil.
On this show I also talked about a book that I have resently read, Freedom of Expression ®, written by Kembrew McLeod, on the rights and wrongs of coyright. All of the examples I cited on this show I took them from that book, including the conflict between the band The Verve and The Rolling Stones, in regards to the authorship of the song Bitter Sweet Symphony; and the copyright rules on covering songs. Above is a link to the full book, that you can download legally and freely, no strings attached.
Lastly, CSS concert in Auckland on the 25th and 26th of March at the Kings Arms.
Enjoy the show and looking forward to your comments.
